Current projects underway:
Our latest project is "zephroizing" a freshly painted Mooney 231. Included is certified fire proof super sound proofing, leather glare shield, leather yokes, and fresh European leather seats:
Liana installing leather wind lace Super Sound Proofing (SSP) gaps SSP bottom troughs SSP previously drafty luggage area
Refinished ABS upholstery panels Added leather to glare shield SSP baggage compartment Installing ABS
Carefully insulating door area SSP floor beneath carpet. Quiet! Finished door panel with chrome handle. Glare shield installed.
Finished pilot side panels Fresh leather wrapped yokes. Finished rear seat. Customer opted for over-stuffing. Sooo comfy and soft!
Well, even Mooneyland can PIMP a Cessna!
U-GLY Cessna seats out of this 172, but wait!
Let's "zephroize" it! What are his seats now and about to be installed?
Overstuffed you say?

Steve's wife liked our suggestion of going fawn as opposed to gray. As you can see, that brightened up what would have otherwise been a drabber look as with the gray they originally wanted or the aweful original blue.
The interior project just after the Cessna was complete was the 1991 Mooney TLS-Bravo. Mooney used perforated leather ala Mercedes, but did not put enough dye so often those fade early and fade badly. The new owner of the TLS wanted seats done just like the Cessna above. Here are before and after shots. Only the seats were done and the new owner will later dye the ABS side panels:

As you can see, replacing ugly dark colors with lighter
colors make a huge difference giving a more spacious look. New seats are also
over-stuffed.

Okay, this is not a car site, but I wanted to share with you a personal project underway to demonstrate what you can do yourselves for a fun project.
A couple of months back I won a 1993 Mercury Capri on ebay for around $1,000.00 (known as the Aussie Capri). This model 4 seat convertible was made between 1991 and 1994, and was designed to compete with the Mazda Miata. Body design by Italians (eh), built by the Australians, and mounted on a Mazda 323 drive train.
So far I have ordered and received new shock struts, a custom red convertible top (not yet installed), and I removed the stock 14" wheels and tires and had custom 17" wheels and low profile tires. Now I am working on getting the body cherry and then applying primer, several coats of base coat clear coat paint (in about the same color as it is now) but I will add candy pearl violet to the clear coat for the candy sheen in the sun and just a touch of zephroization, followed by a full leather interior. Should be fun to see it all come together and once again, test my painting talents. :o) Yep, gonna do it all myself to keep costs down and assure quality work including a lowering kit, painting of the brake calipers and parts, etc.
This car is a blast to drive and for now, can be had cheap until they become collectors items and yes, parts are readily available at several Capri specialization shops. Here are some shots thus far:

Fun!
Son Michael in from LA driving the Capri while the zef
has a brewski! That's living! Is it me or does Michael remind us of "Norton" of the Honeymooners!
Eh Ralph! :o) Mike's gonna get a Capri also!

NOT!

Sanding dust..gasp, puke, cough! Note shiny red filler? Accidentally used red gasket silicone maker! Don't ask! There were two areas of rust at the rear wheel wells. I ground those areas down and then sprayed Walmart's rust removal spray on both sides of the metal and let that soak and sit for 2 days or so. Once the rust was stopped in its tracks, I used Bondo to build the area back up after primering the areas. Once done, I used glazing compound to finish the areas off which were not bad to begin with. Accidental silicone razor bladed and sanded off. Argh! Okay, even the zef can mess up. I asked my helper for the tube of glazing compound and I was handed silicone gasket maker so I used it and had to remove all that! I thought it was easy to apply! Messup! More sanding! I used a razor blade to partially remove the silicone. Messup number 1!

Sand, sand, sand! And more sand!
Note when sanding there are low spots (blue between sanded areas). Needs more fill to "cherry". These are the mounts to tow behind motor home.

Note how I went back and filled areas that were low even from the factory. Sanded marks indicate high spots so it is necessary to full n those "blue" low spots in order to achieve the smooth finish that I desire. In other words, if you sand and have white spots, the white spots are the high spots and the blue indicates the low spots. Fix it!

Go back and fill in low spots with glazing compound. Low spots are painted areas below white areas. Low spots filled back in. Previously dented wheel well bent back and repaired. Filling in pitted areas from rocks is easier than sanding down to surface to the point that eliminates rock chips. It is good to note that even factory areas may be less than level, so to really cherry a body up, it takes time and patience in order to get out all of the waves. Patience pays off big time! Full body sandable primer is next and will result in a sandable surface that will take out all minor imperfections and ready the car for paint. Note that it will be necessary to sand the entire car so that the surface is rough enough to make the primer adhere properly. Doing so will result in a good paint job. Remember!!!!! 90% of a great paint job is IN THE PREP!!! More to follow soon. Stay tuned! I will be removing all removable parts in prep for paint. Meanwhile my sewer has been given the car and leather (grey and red). Below is the old interior, watch soon for the new plus the sexy red convertible top; and here it is below!
More soon so check back!
Okay, I'm tired, but you can see that I spot primered the worked on areas. Next more sanding, some spot glazing putty and then serious coats of sandable primer prior to paint, and then more sanding to finish.
Gunite!

Some examples of well finished Capri's:

Cheapass white finished with a fading blue. Not bad for cheap. Above is electric Blue which I like. White is not my favorite color, but nonetheless, the above right is my favorite finished Capri!

Black is always bad-ass Red is classic convertible, but mine is going to be metallic candy metallic blue so I don't have to paint door jambs and under hood. It only takes some imagination, a wallet, and a bit of talent. For me? Champaign results on a beer budget! :o) More pix coming as I progress this project. Will mine come out as good as these? Stay tuned....
The seats below for an F model Mooney and are ready to install.
